Martial Arts

Escrima. Also known as Arnis or Kali, is arguably the best defense system for. modern times. It is based on 24 inch rattan sticks. The art is a highly rhythmical  system based on fluid footwork, rapid strikes, and close-quarters defense. It teaches that what you learn with one weapon transfers to open hand skills as well as other weapons, making it highly adaptable for practical self-defense.

Jodo. Jodo, or “The Way of the Stick”, is a classical martial art that dates back 400 years to the time of the Samurai. It is centered around a 4-5 ft. long, 1 in. diameter wooden staff called a Jo. This simple design becomes a formidable weapon, as both ends can strike, sweep, or thrust.

Jo techniques and exercises can be practiced by a single person or by two practitioners, where the Jo is paired with a Japanese sword, usually a wooden version called a bokken or bokuto.
